Objectives

This one day course is for users who need to know how to use Symantec's ACT! for Notes contacts database application. You will learn how to select, navigate and use the various Public Views and Private Views available for browsing, analysing and maintaining a contacts database. You will be shown how to create documents by adding new companies and contacts to the database, including creating attachments. You will also learn how to create and manage activities, such as meetings and calls, and how to use ACT! for Notes to create correspondence documents such as letters and faxes.This course fills the requirements of the Training Guarantee Act. It was designed and developed by EDUCOM's professional courseware development team in conjunction with GL Computing's (an ACT! Certified Consultant, ACT For Notes Consultant and ACT! Authorised Trainer) ACT! expertise.

Expected Outcome

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

Open and navigate an ACT! for Notes database
Work with, display, expand, collapse and print the different database views
Create documents for companies and contacts
Attach external files to ACT! documents
Maintain and print documents for companies and contacts
Schedule activities, such as meetings and calls, and view your calendar
View and print your task lists
Create correspondence such as letters and faxes from an ACT! database
Use the ACT! for Notes Help database

Methodology

This is a hands-on workshop with plenty of exercises and activities designed to help you practice, immediately, what you have learned. To achieve this:

You will be provided with comprehensive step-by-step manuals and exercises diskettes, which you can keep after the course
You will have exclusive use of a state of the art SVGA monitor and printer or dedicated classroom laser printer
You will be taught through lecturing, hands-on activities, slides and whiteboard use. Besides this, your tutor will use the latest computer-aided-techniques which enhance interaction between trainer and student
The course will be presented by a trainer who is not only a qualified instructor, but also an experienced user of ACT! for Notes and other Windows applications

Prerequisites

Basic computer awareness, Windows skills and attendance on the Lotus Notes Basic User course or equivalent experience in the Lotus Notes environment.
